About AFP VA, Hampton Roads Chapter

The AFP, Virginia - Hampton Roads Chapter celebrated its fifth-year anniversary on July 14, 2006. It currently serves development professionals from Virginia Beach to Williamsburg, the Eastern Shore to the Outer Banks and all points in between.

The AFP Hampton Roads Chapter is an educational resource for all development professionals in the region along with offering an arena of collegiality for fundraising professionals. The Chapter currently has over 100 members and a mailing list of over 600 philanthropic organizations. AFP individual yearly dues are $295 of which $45 is distributed to the Hampton Roads Chapter.

Quarterly general membership meetings are held together with selected AFP audioconferences throughout the year. In November, the Chapter sponsors a local National Philanthropy Day and in the spring a Charter Day Celebration. A monthly eNewsletter and job postings are offered to all who wish to share their email address with the Chapter. Members are also invited to attend Chapter Board meetings which are held the third Wednesday of every month.

Future plans for the chapter include mentoring services for small and grassroots nonprofit organizations and becoming a certified CFRE exam site.
