,Development Coordinator

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula, a non-profit youth development organization serving over 5,400 youth annually at fifteen Club facilities located throughout the Peninsula, seeks a  Development Coordinator.    
 
Primary function:  Work with Vice President Marketing & Resource Development and Board of Directors to plan and execute resource development strategies and monitor progress against goals. 
 

Essential job responsibilities (include, but not limited to): 

 
·         assistance with implementation of multi-year resource development plan
·         cultivation of donor relationships
·         preparation of grant proposals and reports
·         design and implementation of direct mail programs
·         assistance with special events
·         support for planned giving initiatives
·         implementation of marketing plan
 
Skills/knowledge required:  Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; three years work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in resource development, preferred; knowledge of fundraising techniques, funding sources; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, Board, donors and community partners.

 Eastern Virginia Medical School

Eastern Virginia Medical School, Southeastern Virginia’s premiere medical institution, is seeking experienced development professionals for three senior-level positions – two Major Gift Officers and a Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.  The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relationswill assess the institution’s current foundation and corporate support, and develop relationships, sponsorship opportunities, and manage the gift request process to expand that support.  Major Gift Officers will have responsibility for fundraising for specific focus areas within the institution and will cultivate and solicit a portfolio of prospects who have given or have potential to give leadership gifts.    

It is imperative that the successful candidates have superior written and verbal communication skills, BS/BA degree, and proven success in a development career with increasing responsibility. Higher education or academic health center experience is a plus.
