At our regularly scheduled lunch meetings, the third Tuesday of the month, we feature speakers and topics relevant to our every day work and the lunch meetings are an excellent opportunity to network and build relationships with other development professionals in Hampton Roads.

Our Meet with a Mentor program allows you to partner with an experienced development professional to gain their help and expertise with a specific challenge or question. Meet with a Mentor happens directly before our monthly meetings, beginning at 11:30 am. There are a limited number of mentor sessions available, make your reservation today!

Jan 17 - Development Associate
Alzheimer's Association - seeks part time (25-hours a week) Development Associate experienced in special events fundraising and marketing to work within Peninsula and Williamsburg communities. Position is based in Newport News. Essential Job Functions: • Support and work closely with Peninsula and Williamsburg volunteers to plan and implement Walk to End Alzheimer’s, a national signature event. • Work in partnership with colleagues who oversee team recruitment and sponsorship to solicit and cultivate past and new teams and sponsors. • Identify and participate in local health fairs to promote Walk to End Alzheimer’s and chapter programs. • Conduct community presentations about Association programs/services and opportunities for engagement. Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing-related field • May substitute 2-year degree (AA) and 2 years work experience in nonprofit organization, event planning/management or sales field • Strong written and verbal communications • Accustomed in working with volunteer groups • Exceptional time management skills • Engaging, creative, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented personality • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and publication design applications (including Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, Adobe, and Quark) • Ability to work evenings and weekends • Driver’s license and access to personal vehicle to meet travel requirements Salary is $14.00 per hour.
